This 1 day course is designed to give care workers knowledge of the risks surrounding the moving and handling of service users, the relevant laws that must be followed and ensures that all delegates will be competent to carry out their work safely.

Understand the Principles of Moving and Handling
- Understand the Hazards & Risks and Legislation Associated with Moving and Handling
- Understand how to reduce the risk of injuries
- Understand the Importance of Communication
- Demonstrate assisting a person to roll manually/with equipment
- Know how to assist individuals to transfer with or without equipment
- Demonstrate the safe use of slide sheets
- Understand the Importance of Reporting Unsafe Equipment or Techniques
- Describe where to seek advice and assistance if the individual’s wishes conflict with their care plan.
