Safe Handling and Adminstration of Medicines
This ½ day course is designed to give care workers knowledge of the risks surrounding the administration of medications, the relevant laws that must be followed and ensures that all learners will be competent to carry out their work safely.
Course Content and Structure
- Understand the legislation and regulation surrounded medication in a care setting.
- Be able define the 7 R’s and have a greater understanding of errors and relevant actions.
- Understand the importance of infection control and correct risk assessing.
- Understand the importance of Record Keeping
- Undertaken practical exercises involving MAR charts, medication boxes and electronic recording systems
- Know what to do and who to contact in the event of Medication Discrepancies
- Understand the principles for the Disposal of Medicines
